What the Yama Tower Is
The Yama cold brew tower is a slow-drip (Kyoto-style) brewer: ice water in the top vessel drips one drop at a time through a bed of grounds and winds down a glass spiral into the carafe. A full 32 oz batch, about 6 to 8 cups, takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. It is equal parts coffee maker and centerpiece.
What Touches the Water
The water vessels, brew chamber, spiral, and carafe are glass, mounted in a wood frame. The drip regulator assembly includes small non-glass fittings we could not fully verify, so we will not claim every millimeter is glass. Two things work strongly in its favor: the brew path is overwhelmingly glass, and the entire process is cold. Leaching risk from any material drops sharply without heat.
The Plastic-Free Verdict
Effectively plastic-free brewing: glass-dominated path, cold water only, no heating element and no tubing. We rate it one of the cleanest ways to make cold brew, with a small honesty note about the drip-valve fittings. For a simpler, fridge-friendly option, see the Ovalware glass cold brew maker.
