Specialty Coffee in Plastic-Free K-Cups

Who We Are

We’re a collective of coffee lovers and concerned consumers, united by a simple idea: your coffee shouldn’t cost you your health or the planet.

Two things set us on this path. The first was taste. Some of our founders lived in coffee-growing regions across Central and South America, where we drank coffee with a lightness and smoothness we had never found at home. Our everyday cups tasted burnt by comparison. The second was harder to ignore. As we read the growing research on microplastics, including studies that found plastic particles in human tissue, we started asking what a plastic pod and near-boiling water might be doing to more than just the flavor.

The Problem in Most Cups

Much of the single-serve coffee market is commodity-grade coffee, over-roasted to mask imperfections, often bitter, and usually brewed through plastic. Over-roasting can flatten the flavor that makes great coffee worth drinking. And research has raised concern that the plastic we brew through may shed microplastics into the cup, something a growing number of people are choosing not to ignore.

Our Response: Roaster's Reserve

We didn’t set out to reinvent the coffee pod. We set out to find a better one.

After a long search, we found an advanced, plastic-free pod system built to protect coffee after it is ground. Each pod is sealed in a nitrogen-flushed pouch to help preserve the flavor and aroma fresh-roasted coffee is meant to have. Then we filled it with coffee worthy of that technology: Roaster’s Reserve, our flagship specialty-grade blend, selected and taste-tested until it earned its place.

Better coffee, without the plastic. A plant-based, compostable* pod instead of one designed to outlive the cup it makes. Single-serve convenience without asking you to settle for over-roasted commodity coffee or more plastic in your brewing routine.

That is why we started Plastic Free Brew: to raise the standard for single-serve coffee, with better coffee, better freshness, and less plastic in every cup.

Our Vision

However You Brew

Our goal is bigger than any one product: take the plastic out of coffee. Pods are how we do it, but they aren’t the only way. If single-serve isn’t your thing, we curate the brewing gear we’d use ourselves, grinders, kettles, presses, and more, and you can filter it by how much plastic touches your coffee, from zero-plastic to minimal. Brew it your way, with less plastic.
